Sleep Studies for Children
We provide Overnight In-Center Sleep Testing, PAP Therapy & Alternative Options for Children ages 2 and up
We diagnose and care for children ages 2 and up with any type of sleep disorder, including (but not limited to):
- Sleep-disordered breathing
- Parasomnias (sleep walking, sleep terrors)
- Narcolepsy
- Idiopathic Hypersomnia
- Circadian rhythm disorders (delayed sleep phase syndrome)
- Movement disorders (periodic limb movement disorder, head banging)
- Insomnias
We aid in the evaluation and management of children with obstructive sleep apnea, ages 2 and up.
Special Instructions for Children
Please do not allow your child to have caffeine on the day of study.
Dinner is not served; please feel free to bring snacks. You will go home the morning of your sleep study and the sleep lab will call you with the results.
The hook-up procedure is approximately an hour to an hour and a half. Sensors are applied to the head (EEG) for assessing stages of sleep. In addition, special sensors are applied near your child’s nose, chest and abdomen to measure breathing. Other sensors are applied to your child’s legs to measure movement during sleep. All sensors are applied externally to the skin.
Your child can bring a favorite bedtime item (toy, teddy bear or blanket ) to help him or her feel more comfortable. A parent or guardian is required to stay with children 14 and under. No siblings are allowed to stay overnight. There is a sleep chairs provided in the room. Each bedroom has a TV. Our facility also has a shower, microwave, and refrigerator. Please silence cells phone after lights off. Televisions are turned off at lights off.

Secil Aydinoz, MD
Dr. Aydinoz is a Board Certified Pediatrician and Sleep Medicine Specialist. He graduated from the University of Ankara School of Medicine in Turkey.
He obtained pediatric residency from Gulhane Military Medical Academy in Turkey and the University of Missouri-Columbia. He completed his Sleep Medicine fellowship at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to that, he had extensive training in Pediatric Sleep Medicine as a clinical research fellow at the University of Chicago. His special interest is to provide both adults and children including sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, and a wide variety of other sleep disorders.
